El Paso County Jail Contacts
The jail is not at the downtown courthouse. The Sheriff's Court Services Section moves inmates between the Las Vegas Street jail and the Terry Harris Judicial Complex at 270 S. Tejon St. for court. El Paso County Booking and Court Transport
Detention Operations includes Intake and Court Services. Intake and Release must maintain required records and accountability for inmate funds and property under C.R.S. 17-26-103. During the stay, jail records may include court updates, new charges, bond charges, work release fees, pre-trial services, and holds from other agencies. Property is inventoried during pre-admit processing and booking, then re-inventoried by Property Technicians.
Court Services is located in the Terry Harris Judicial Complex and includes a Court Unit and Transport Unit. The Court Unit escorts inmates to courtrooms, provides courtroom security, transports juveniles from Spring Creek Detention Center to court, and processes people remanded from court. The Transport Unit moves inmates between the jail and courthouse, through Colorado, to DOC, to other counties or cities, to medical transports, and to the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo.

County Jail vs Colorado DOC
The El Paso County jail roster is for county custody. Sentenced state-prison and parole records are separate and should be checked through the Colorado Department of Corrections offender search. CBI criminal-history checks are also separate from current custody. A person can have a court case, a jail stay, a DOC record, and a criminal-history entry that do not update at the same time.

El Paso County Jail Visitation
Public visits are video visitation. The sheriff states that all visits use a video visitation system with monitors and handsets, so public visitors do not see the inmate in person. Visits are scheduled online through JailATM.com, and the visitation week runs Sunday through Saturday. Visits may be 15 or 30 minutes online and can be ended for rule violations or disruptive behavior. JailATM handles refunds and does not issue credits for caller-end internet, device, browser, or connection problems. General visitation questions go to 719-390-2000, 24 hours a day.
El Paso County Inmate Funds and Property
Funds may be deposited by cash, cashier's check, official check, or money order at the main transaction window in the jail lobby 24 hours a day. Personal checks are not accepted, and no change is available. Money orders or checks mailed to the jail must be complete, payable to EPSO, and include the inmate full name, booking number, or admin number beginning with A on the memo line. Each envelope must contain one deposit for one inmate, and EPSO recommends that cash never be sent by mail.

Property is limited after formal booking. The jail generally does not accept property after booking except prescription glasses, certain pre-approved prescription medications verified by jail medical staff, clothes for jury trials, state ID, passports, and vehicle or house keys. An inmate may release property to a specific person through a Personal Property Release form, and the recipient must show valid picture ID. El Paso County Inmate Mail
Personal mail does not go straight to the Colorado jail. Personal incoming correspondence and pictures must be sent to the third-party mail vendor at El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Inmate Full Name and Admit/Booking Number, P.O. Box 16120, Jonesboro, AR 72401. The sender must include a full name and complete return address, and the inmate name and admit number must be complete with no nicknames, abbreviations, or initials.
Personal mail is opened, scanned into an electronic document, reviewed by the EPSO mailroom, and made available on a tablet if approved. Originals are not returned after processing, and the sender is not notified of rejection. Legal and government documents use the jail address at 2739 E. El Paso County Inmate Records Requests
Use the Sheriff Records Unit when the roster does not show what is needed. Records requests can seek sheriff incident, video, booking, or custody-related records not shown in the public search.
